Djurre Sakes was a Mennonite preacher. He became a member of the Mennonite church of Drachten and Ureterp after his adult baptism on 31 December 1783[4]. The Mennonite Lieuwe Jans de Jong from Oldeboorn writes in his Diary on December 8, 1825 about the death that the story goes that Sake Djurres would have committed suicide, but there are also stories that contradict this[5]
