I was born i 1993 in Tønsberg, Norway. My family has deep roots in the local areas of Tønsberg, Stokke, Nøtterøy, Tjøme, Husvik and the numerous local islands known as "Skjærgården" ("the skerries"). Some also stretch into 19th century Østfold, Telemark, Trøndelag (where I now reside) and Sweden, and even 18th century Italy. I have an immense interest in history by itself, and I view the history of my own family members as a natural extension of this. I enjoy exploring the lives and journeys of these often distant, yet strangely close, ancestors of mine. Researching their stories, it is vital to remember that these names and numbers once were actual people living lives as rich, humorous, tragic, stressful, emotional and loveful and as our own.
Having tried several different ways of writing down family history, WikiTree is by far the best one yet. I am a historian by profession, and I firmy believe that it is crucial to remain faithful to our sources. WikiTree lets me refer effortlessly to whichever sources I am using. I am also a strong supporter of privacy as well as open-source systems in general.
The profiles I manage are both my own ancestors and my wife's ancestors. The latter are mostly rooted in Northern Norway, but also partly in the areas around Kristiansund.
My biographies are written in Norwegian, even though a long-term goal is to support these with English summaries. However, I will first concentrate on building a relatively complete Norwegian tree. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions, additional information or any other sort of inquiry!
