John Veitch, Laird of Dawyck, was born about 1557. He married Janet Stewart,[1] aunt of John, 1st Earl of Traquair, about 1576. He and Janet had 4 sons and 3 daughters. He had died by 21 May 1606, so only survived a few years after his father. [2]

The Veitch Historical Society submitted a formal application to the Lord Lyon of Arms of Edinburgh in November 1981. When members of the Society were in Scotland in 1983, the Society was presented with its own official coat-of-arms by Malcolm Rognvald Innes of Edingight, Baron of Yeochrie, Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Writer of Her Majestys Signet, Lord Lyon King of Arms.
