My ancestry
My ancestry is intresting.....in being boring. If you would draw a rectangle using the Hague/Zoetemeer for the upper line, the border Netherlands-Germany for east and Brussel for the south. You got every place my ancestors could come from included. (Expect 1 place in South-France and 1 place in Germany.) I do still have managed to find a lot of interesting stories about my heritage, and I hope I'll find more in the future. ;)

Ik ben wat minder actief omdat ik het nogal druk heb. (Klas 5 PO's, PWS etc. :( ) Als ik weer voldoende tijd/rust heb zal ik weer joinen. ;)
We zijn heel blij om te zien dat je nog steeds actief bent op WikiTree en dat je ook bezig bent met Nederlandse Profielen. We zouden graag met elkaar een nieuwe impuls willen geven aan het Dutch Roots Project om Nederlanders binnen WikiTree beter op de kaart te zetten. Het Dutch Roots Project heeft al meer dan 50.000 profielen onder beheer en in totaal zijn er al meer dan 500.000 Nederlandse profielen op WikiTree Binnen dit project houden we ons bezig met het bewaken van de kwaliteit van deze Nederlandse profielen en anderen te helpen daarmee. We zouden naast deze taken ook andere zaken willen oppakken, maar hiervoor hebben we meer vrijwilligers nodig. Daarom deze vragen aan jou:
1) Heb je interesse om mee te helpen als vrijwilliger bij het Dutch Roots Project? 2) Zo ja, gaat je voorkeur uit naar een specifieke taak binnen het Dutch Roots Project? (denk bijvoorbeeld aan vertalen, sourcen etc of iets anders dat je zou willen aanpakken.)
Wij hopen dat je ons een reactie wilt sturen en voel het niet als een verplichting om iets te gaan doen. Wij willen alleen een inventarisatie maken van wie we kunnen vragen om ons te helpen met bepaalde activiteiten.

The 6th Source-a-Thon will take place from the 1st of October till the 4th of October. This Thon is all about adding accurate sources to unsourced profiles and improving the accuracy of WikiTree. Bedankt voor je bijdragen aan mijn stamboom bij de WikiTree Challenge deze week! Yvette Hoitink
We hebben je deze keer echt nodig! Als je tijd hebt, help dan alsjeblieft.
WT organiseert dit jaar wekelijkse challenges onder de naam: “Year of Accuracy” We hebben er al veel aan gewerkt maar volgende week wordt een bijzondere.
Of je het nu leuk vindt of niet, we hebben deze week jouw hulp nodig om te laten zien waartoe wij als DRP in staat zijn - vanaf woensdag 9 juni en het is gedurende een week erna, start waarschijnlijk laat voor ons Nederlanders (na middernacht) - de uitdaging is om bakstenen muren neer te halen voor de Nederlandse genealoog Yvette Hoitink.
Ze deed geweldig onderzoek naar haar familie. Deze uitdaging gaat over laten zien dat het beter kan!
We hebben natuurlijk al DRP-leden die meedoen aan de challenge, maar de meeste deelnemers zijn Amerikanen. Ze hebben hulp nodig bij vertalingen, het vinden van betrouwbare bronnen, Nederlandse naamgevingsconventies (omdat we vóór 1811 in profielen zullen duiken en waarschijnlijk patroniemen moeten gebruiken en nooit tussennamen) en het toevoegen van biografieën. We zijn er zeker van dat buitenlanders hulp nodig hebben. En leer veel door deze uitdaging, maar ze hebben wat hulp van ons nodig.
Alsjeblieft, je hulp wordt zeer op prijs gesteld.

WT is organizing weekly challenges this year under the name: “Year of Accuracy” We worked on many before but next week will be special.
If you like it or not, we need your help this week just to show what we as DRP are capable of - starting on Wednesday the 9th of June and it is during a week after, starts probably late for us Dutch (after midnight) - the challenge is to bring down brick walls for Dutch genealogist Yvette Hoitink.
She did great research on her family. This challenge is about showing we can do better!
We have, of course, already DRP members joining the challenge, but most participants are Americans. They will need help on translations, finding reliable sources, Dutch Naming Conventions (as we will dive into profiles before 1811 and probably need to use patronymics and never use Middle Names) and adding biographies. We are sure foreigners need help. And learn lots because of this challenge but they need some help from us.

Altijd leuk als je meer te weten kunt komen over je voorouders dan alleen maar info uit DTB-boeken. ;)
Voor een geweldige start van de lente hebben we ook dit jaar weer een Spring Clean-a-Thon. Het plezier begint vrijdag 23 april om 14:00 uur en duurt tot maandag 26 april 14:00 vergeet niet je eerst aan te melden voor dit evenement (en doe dit met een ANSWER geen comment of reply) en vermeld natuurlijk ook in het antwoord dat je meedoet met the Flying Dutchmen- Vliegende Hollanders team!

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Wat geweldig dat je op WT actief bent! Voel je vooral heel welkom. En ik hoop dat je het op WT net zo leuk gaat vinden als ik.
Ik ben Astrid, ik was een WT-Greeters member de afgelopen jaren en daarnaast ben ik vooral een aktief lid van "[het Nederland_Project]" hier. Behalve dat ik je heel graag uitnodig om lid van ons [Nederlands_Project] op WT te worden, zie ik dat je ondertussen al commentaar krijgt omdat je pre-1700 profielen maakt.
Das niet zo erg zolang je maar betrouwbare bronnen toevoegt (en ik heb nog niet gekeken maar ik denk dus dat je dat nog niet doet - mogelijk omdat je niet weet hoe). Ik wist dat niet in ieder geval toen ik hier begon. Betrouwbare bronnen zijn linken naar orginele doop-/geboorteakten, orginele trouwdocumenten en overlijdens documenten of aantekeningen in kerkboeken.
Ik heb ondertussen een blik geworpen op je "1600" profielen en zie linken naar "genealogieonline" wat prachtige "Leads" geeft, maar geen originele informatie. Leads zijn mogelijk goede info maar zonder betrouwbare bronnen. Leads maken het ons wel makkelijk om betrouwbare bronnen te vinden! :)

I encourage you to stop adding such profiles, and work on sourcing the ones you have already added. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable about Netherlands sources, but you should be able to find guidance with the wonderful people at the Netherlands Project. They have a Dutch Pre-1700 team that could be helpful, as well as an explanation of what are considered to be Reliable Sources for Dutch profiles.
I noticed you have already heard about the project from other members, so maybe this is old news. But anyway, I hope it helps! Thank you for your interest in WikiTree!
Please don't see me as a person who does not use reliable sources, because I do! :(
I think you are talking about a group of profiles for which I have used the family tree "Genealogische Databank Westland e.o." [[1]] This family tree is not a family tree but a population reconstruction based on archives from that area. I understand that wasn't 100% clear on the profiles.
I will put the actual documents as sources on the profiles instead of this. According to what I just said, it should not be hard to find those. I usually do that, but I hoped that for these profile this source would be good/clear enough. But it causes at least one misunderstanding of my reliability and I do not want that to happen again, so I will change anyway.

Ben je Nederlands? Zag je post op G2G. Ik nodig je graag uit om lid te worden van de club op WT die zich bezighouden met Nederlandse profielen op WT zonder betrouwbare bronnen : The Dutch_Roots_Project, nu omgedoopt tot Netherlands_Project. Op onze pagina's vind je ook hoe je lid kan worden HIER. Veel hulppagina's op WT zijn vertaald in het Nederlands HIER
Onze leider, Bea Wijma die alleen Netherlands Project-badges kan uitdelen is even een poosje niet online dus wanhoop niet als je de batch de komende weken niet krijgt.
Behalve dat we hopen dat je een blijver bent op WT, is de DRP (Dutch Roots Project) een leuke groep mensen die heeeeeeeeeeeeeel graag helpen om profielen mooier te maken en graag helpen met hoe goede bronnen te vinden digitaal.
Toen ik hier begon voelde ik mij een oen. Ik kreeg heel veel hulp van de DRP omdat ik vragen stelde. Dus join the club ajb.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
As we would say in Dutch: "Ik ben met open armen ontvangen." I was welcomed with open arms. Y'all take such good care of newbies, I love that! In the beginning I hated the fact that you are so strict on sources, but I have gotten used to it and the habit of citing sources well and making sure the sources are reliable will stuck with me. I'm really glad for that.
I already had a family tree privately so the tips on the New Members page weren't that helpful, but I think they were for others who were just starting out.
So in short: I love the warm welcome I have recieved. You can really feel this is a community of friendly people, but those people also want the work to be great: "We love that you work with use...…but family trees are not reliable sources!" It is something you have to get used to in the beginning, but I'm glad I have not given up and now I'm honoured to be part of this community. :)

The Netherlands Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
