Research Notes

Inq.p. m. IO Hen. VI. James Vernon held in demesne, as of fee, two parts of the manor of Haslington, with the advowson of the chapel, and the reversion of the third part, held in dower by Eleanor, widow of Sir Richard Vernon : val. tot. xvi I. Richard le Vernon son and heir.

Ormerod says he was made prisoner by Sir John Savage, which must have something to do with the dispute over the succession to the Barony of Shipbrook, which appearently passed to James along with most of the property, but the title went to the Savages.
