Biography

Ozias was born about 1869. He was the son of Allen Vernon and Ruth Wheaton.

He was living with his parents and siblings in Santa Rosa, Sonoma, California in 1870.[1]

He moved with his family to Linn county, Oregon.

He passed away in 1876 of a diptheria epidemic that also killed three other siblings:[2]

"Sad Misfortune.

From John Wheaton we are pained to learn of the severe afflictions of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Vernon. They were former residents of Santa Rosa, but recently moved to Linn county,Oregon, near Harrisburg, on the Willamette river. The latter part of last month six of their children, together with themselves, were attacked by diptheria. In seven days three of the children died; two are not yet out of danger; one has recovered. Mr. Vernon is yet very weak; his wife, who had but a mild attack has quite recovered. Mrs. Vernon is the youngest daughter of Mr. Wheaton, whose farm is six miles north of Healdsburg on Dry Creek. Elmer L. Vernon, aged 11 years died May 24; Ozias C. Vernon, aged 8 years, died May 31; Alexander J. Vernon, aged 6 years, died May 31. "
