  • Isaac Vernon was born circa 1715 either at Cub Creek Virginia Or Chester County Pa. He was the son of Thomas (1st of Cub Creek) Isaac was in the area of Rockingham County as early as 1780 when he purchased a tract of land from the state of N.C. located on both sides of the Mayo River adjoining Samuel Dalton, John Joyce and Nehemiah Vernon.

He was commissioned a Leiutenant, He fought at the Battle of Point Pleasants in 1774. He was married twice first to Eliizabeth Austin they were listed as man and wife in 1761. on a deed in Charlotte Co. Va. when they sold land to John Rice. he Married a second time to Jane Cardwell or Caldwell. Isaac died in Rockingham County North Carolina his will dated August 12, 1787 . The will named his wife Jane his children and his sister Rebecca. Before his death he provided for his grand children that were orphaned children of his deceased sons. he deeded 248 acres to John and Isaac sons of Joseph Vernon. and 136 acres on the North side of the Mayo river to Richard, Elizabeth and Nancy children of his son Thomas.

"Bequeath to son Nehemiah Vernon two pounds to him and his heirs.
Bequeath to son Jonathan two pounds in money to him and his heirs, son James - twenty pounds in money, son Richard - twenty pounds in money (another bequest of ? pounds to son that couldn't be read - perhaps son Patrick or Fredrick - looks like T warick or F warick.)

Daughter Jane - 10 pounds
Daughter Mary - 2 pounds
Daughter Elizabeth - 10 pounds
Daughter Sarah - one bed and furniture and 5 pounds in money
Daughter Suckey - 1 bed of furniture and 2 pounds
Daughter Hannah - five pounds
Loving sister Rebekah - ten pounds
And if my estate shall amount to more than the sum before bequeaths be equally divided among all my children before named. Appts. son Nehemiah and loving friend Benjamin Gates (?) executors of this last will.
