Pvt., Co C, 5th Regiment, Alabama Infantry, CSA Levi Hamilton Vice, born March 1836 South Carolina, died March 27, 1918 Alabama. Death record for his brother, James Henry Vice (buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Calhoun Co., AL) showed their father as John Vice.

Married Dec. 16, 1869 Calhoun Co., AL to Nancy Vashti Griffin.

Levi and Vashti had four children: 1) Lula Vice married Malley J. Hutto. Lula died at age 48 in McLennan Co., Texas.

2) Adelia Willie Vice married Wilkes Woodard in Alabama and Willie Butler in Texas. Willie died at age 85 in McCulloch Co., Texas.

3) Homer Lee Vice married Tessie Iola Hall. Homer died at age 59 in Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL.

4) James Monroe "Jim" Vice married Jennie Harrell. Jim died a young man of 39 years.

Levi "Lee" Hamilton Vice served the Confederacy during the Civil War. Levi, born March 1836, died March 27, 1918 per Veterans Administration Department records.

Enlisted Sept. 2, 1861 in Capt. E.J. Smyth's Company, White Plains Rangers, 5th Battalion, Company C., Alabama Volunteers. Military records list him in Richmond, Virginia and later paroled as a Prisoner of War at Talladega, Alabama May 22, 1865.
