Henry Videau (b. 1700) was the father-in-law of General Francis Marion.
Henry Joseph Videau was the son of Peter (Pierre) Videau and Jeanne Elizabeth Mauze, Huguenot immigrants to the Province of Carolina. He was born after his parents applied for naturalization about 1695. In a 1742 deed to his sister Jane Bonneau, he refers to their father Peter Videau and calls himself the sole heir to his father's real estate.[1]
About 1733 he married Ann Cordes, daughter of Antoine Cordes and widow of Francis Simons. [2] They had children:[3]
Elizabeth (b. 6 January 1733/4)
Mary Esther (b. 17 September 1737, m. Francis Marion)
Peter (b. 27 October 1743)
Henry Joseph (b. 4 December 1744, d. April 1773)
Henry predeceased his wife, who is listed as a widow in her April 1772 Will.[4]
