  • OBITUARY: Northern Star (Lismore, NSW: 1876 - 1954) Tue 6 Oct 1936 Page 5 OBITUARY JOHN D. N. VIDLER: Mr. John D. N. Vidler, aged 63, of Elizabeth-street, Camden, has died. He was a grandson of the late John Vidler, the first Methodist preacher in the South Coast area from Jamberoo to Nowra. Deceased was born at Jamberoo, where his father, the late William J. Vidler, was interested in dairying. His marriage to Miss Ethel Meredith took place at Wollongong Church of England, and the family later resided at Dapto, Bellingen and Richmond River. Mr. Vidler rode with Dapto Cycling Club 30 years ago, and as a member of an infantry detachment at Kiama and the garrison artillery at Wollongong, won numerous prizes in rifle-shooting contests. The family went to Camden in 1923. Mrs. Vidler and five children (Gladys, Mrs. Brooker, of Camden; Leslie, Wollongong; Reg, Dapto; Arthur (Tom), Camden; and Stanley, of Camden) survive. Deceased's surviving sisters and brothers are : Mrs. T. H. Booth (Jamberoo), Mr. G. E. Vidler (Lismore), Mrs. A. Nesbitt (Goulburn), Messrs. W. D. Vidler (Wollongong) , S. E. Vidler (Blayney), C. L. Vidler (Queensland), and Mrs. M. Nesbitt (Rose Bay).
