Biography

Frank was born in The Azores Islands, Portugal in 1868. He immigrated to the U.S. through New York in 1878.

Frank married Erminia Caeser at just 19 years old. They made their home in the Boston area. Frank was a barber. His occupation is listed in several census records.

Frank died in 1908 at just 39 years old in Cambridge, Massachusetts.^[1] His death certificate states he died of pulmonary tuberculosis. The certificate states he had that for 5 years prior to his death. Another interesting note I made of the death certificate is that the filing date is one day prior to the actual date of death.  ? How odd.....

Research Notes

• The surname of Vierra has several different spellings. The variations have caused my search to be a bit more difficult than others. Please note that I have listed the spelling of the surname so that it coincides with the sources provided for each individual with the surname: Vierra.
• I found one document that lists the names of Frank's parents as Joseph Vieira and Leopoldina Mell. After a large search, I cannot find a single record that ties these parents to Frank. The names vary as well. The last name Mell in Portugal is actually only part of a longer last name. So, I'm having trouble confirming that whatever document I am looking at is in fact, Frank's mother.
• Sep 2017 - Located documents that revealed Leopoldina's surname is de Jesus and Mell is a part of that name but not seen often in records. I have added this source here.
