Biography

Name: Jean Baptiste Vignaud on his christening record, standardized by Stephen White to Vigneau and adopted by the Acadian Project as the standard name spelling for the family.

Jean Baptiste Vignaud, son of Jean Baptiste and Agnes Poirier, was baptised on 16 Jan 1742 at Beaubassin, born the previous day. He was sponsored by Francois Arsseneau and Madeleine Poirier, all of the parish of Beaubassin. [1][2][3][4]

He married Jeanne Lafargue, daughter of the late Jean La Fargue and Marianne Hozelet of Cape Breton and widow of Joseph Bois of Cape Breton 4 Jan 1765 at Miquelon, Newfoundland.[5]

He died in France in 1801 at Ingouville (now part of Le Havre), Seine-Maritime, France.[6]

This Jean Baptiste Vigneau married to Jeanne (Anne) Lafargue in 1765 was given the dit name (dit Sonjean) in the research works of Karen Theriot Reader [7]

Sévigny-11 and Vigneault-41 appear to represent the same person because: Same approx birth date, same place.

Married to same spouse on same date and place. Same death date and place. The reason I think these are the same is that Karen Theriot Reader gives him a dit name of Sonjean which could have been made into Sevigny in the one profile.
