Biography

Thurman was born in Missouri on 30 Dec 1879,^[1] the son of Benjamin Viles and Amanda Wright.^[2]

In 1880, Benjamin Viles, a 29 year old farmer, lived with his wife Manda, 26, and son Thurman 0-6/12 b. Jan. Benjamin's parents were both both in Indiana, and Manda's were born in Ohio.^[3]

In 1900, Thurman M. Viles, 21, lived with his parents Ben and Mandy Viles, and sister Edith in Benton Township, Polk, Missouri.^[4]

Miss Abbie Sutton of Bolivar and Thurman B. Viles of Dewey were married at the Mt. Gilead Parsonage, Polk County, Missouri, on 7 Oct 1904. Thurman was under 21, so his father, B. W. Viles, gave permission.^[5]

When Thurman Burton Viles registered for the World War 1 Draft, he said he was 39 years old, born on 30 Dec 1879. He lived in Halfway, Polk, Missiouri, where he was in farming. His nearest relative was Abbie Viles of the same place.^[1]

In 1930, Thurman B. Viles, 50 b. Missouri, lived in Benton township, Polk, Missouri, with his wife Addie S. Viles and two children.^[7]
