Biography

Marcellus Viles was born in June 1860,^[1][2] the son of Sanborn Viles and Phileora Luce.^[3]

According to his FindAGrave memorial, Marcellus married three times: Ella Frances Copp, Alice Tozier, and Mary M. Wilcox.

Ella F. Cobb and Marcellus Viles were married about 1884.^[1] Based on census and other records, they had the following children:

• George H Viles, b. March 1886; m. Lucy M. Salisbury 10 Sep 1910^[4]
• Willis M Viles, b. 30 Sept 1888^[5]

In 1900, "Macellus" Viles lived in Anson, Somerset, Maine, with his wife Ella F., two children and a brother-in-law. Marcellus was a section hand.^[1]

Marcellus Viles, 56, married Alice N Lozier (Tozier), 33, on 5 Jun 1917 at Madison, Somerset, Maine. Alice was the daughter of Orlando E Lozier and Salina J Winchenbach. This was the second marriage for Marcellus and the first for Alice.^[3][6]

Mary M. Wilcox, of New Vineyard, Maine, and Marcellus Viles, of Madison, Maine, were married on 1 Sep 1925 in Maine.^[7]

Marcellus died in 1941 and is buried at the Sunset Cemetery, North Anson, Somerset, Maine.^[2]

All were born in Maine, as were their parents. Marcellus and Ella have been married for 14 years, and Ella has had two children, both of whom are living. Elwood has been married for 3 years, but no wife is shown.
