Wilkins was born about 1817 in Maine. He was the son of Joseph and Eleanor Viles.[1]
In 1850, W. H. Viles, a 33 year old farmer, lived with his wife Charlotte, 29, and son Harrison, 4, in Somerset County, Maine. All were born in Maine.[2]
In 1860, "William" Viles, a 43 year old farmer, lived with Charlotte, 39, and two sons, "Hiram," 14, and Greenville, 8. All were born in Maine.[3]
Wilkins married Lucy Dean on 19 Mar 1870 at Readfield, Kennebec, Maine.[4]
In 1870, Wilkins H. Viles, a 53 year old farmer b. Maine, lived in Readfield, Kennebec, Maine, with his wife Lucy C., 48 b. Massachusetts, and two sons born in Maine: Harrison N., 23, and Granville D., 18.[5]
Wilkins estate was probated in Bristol County, Massachusetts. The probate file says that Wilkins died intestate, leaving a widow Lucy C. Viles and sons Harrison N. of Raynham, and Granville D. of Raynham, a minor. An Inventory of the estate was taken and the value was $2500 in real estate and $6845 in personal estate. The real estate consisted of a house and stable and 1-1/2 acres of land.[6]

He was a married farmer, and 54 years 11 months old when he died of pneumonia. He was born in Maine, the son of Joseph and Eleanor Viles.
