Fought in the Siege of Tabruk and the First Battle of El Alamein where he was taken POW along with most of the 2/28 Battalion. Prisoner of the Italians till their surrender and then transported by the Germans to Stalag Luft 18A, Wolfsberg Austria. Edward Thomas Vincent escaped while on a work gang and evaded recapture by traveling through Jugoslavia with the Partisans eventually meeting up with the Allies 1945. For his Escape and Evasion of the Germans he was Mentioned in Despatches.
