Biography

Annetje / Anneken Vincent was born about 1640 at Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. She is a daughter of Adriaen Vincent, who was born 1610 Châtelet, Hainaut, Walloon Region, Netherlands; died 1657 New Rochelle, Westchester, New York; and Madaleen Vincent (Madelein Madelyne Mathurine Eloy Alloue), born 1 Nov 1620 Tournai, Hainault, Walloon, Belgium; died 1657 New City, Rockland, New York.^[1][2]

Annekin Vincent married first, 9 Sep 1656, Simon Felle at New Amsterdam, New Netherlands. In the marriage record Simon Felle is “van Diepen in Vranckryck” and Annekin Vincent is “van Amsterdam.”^[1][3]

In 1659 in a suit by Adriaen Vincent and Simon Felle against Lysbet Williams, they claimed Lysbet Williams made slanderous statements against Anneken Felle, she was described as the wife of Simon and daughter of Adriaen Vincent.^[1]

Annekin (Vincent) Fell married second, 15 Feb 1680, Johannes Cousjoú according to Reformed Dutch Church Records or Jacques Cousseau according to Riker’s history of Harlem. Riker wrote that “A warm friendship had long subsisted between Mr. Cousseau and Simon Fell and his wife, he a Hugeunot from Dieppe (probably ancestor of John Fell, of New Jersey) and, in 1680, Cousseau married Fell’s widow, Anna Vincent. Her brother, John Vincent, was Mr. Cousseau’s administrator.”^[1]
