Biography

Rosina was born in 1808. She was baptised in Honiton, Devon, on 4 Aug 1809. She is the daughter of Benjamin Viney and Jemima Holway.

Rosina was living in King Street, Honiton, in 1841, along with other family members. She was in her thirties and unmarried at this time.

She (or someone with the same name) appears as a single woman on the passenger list of the Barque John, heading for Canada.

The John was wrecked on 3 May 1855 on the Manacles off the coast of Cornwall, with much loss of life. More about the shipwreck can be read here.

As a death or marriage record for Rosina has not been found in England or elsewhere, it appears likely she was lost in the shipwreck.
