Biography

He was born about 1894. The 1900 census lists his birth date as Nov 1894. The social security file[1] gives 22 Nov 1895. The social security file gives his parents as Samuel E Virtue and Alice M Minnerd

The 1900 census[2] shows George Virtue, age 6, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States in the household of his parents, Samuel and Alice Virtue, with siblings William, 8, Edmund, 3, and Agatha, 2.

The 1910 census[3] shows George E. Virtue in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States in the household of Samuel E. Virtue and Alice Virtue with siblings Harold, Edmond, and Agatha.

His WWI draft record[4], dated 29 May 1917, gives his birthdate as 22 Nov 1895. , and his residence as New Castle, Lawrence, Pennsylvania, United States. The record states he is married, with a wife to support, but the 1920 census below shows him single, living with his parents.

The 1920 census[5] shows George E. Virtue in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States in the household of Samuel E. Virtue and Alice Virtue with siblings Harold, Edmond, and Agatha. Ten census records him a single.

The 1930 census[6] shows George E Virtue, age givens as 38, as head of household in New Castle, Lawrence, Pennsylvania, United States, with a wife, Anna Virtue, and a 1- year-old child.

On 22 Dec 1947, George Ellsworth Virtue, son of Samuel Virue and Alice May, married Alma Metz, daughter of Jacob Wahl and Mary Gudekunst, in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States.[7] He was 52, she, 50.

In the 1950 census[8] his is shown in Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio, United States as a guest in a hotel. He is listed as married, but his wife does not appear with him in the record. His occupation is given as a railroad locomotive engineer.

He died in 1956, probably in Ohio, United States.[9]

Notes

The 1930 census shows his with a wife, Anna and 1-year-old child. Find a Grave gives his wife the name Ann Thomas Virtue.
