Biography

John Vyvian was the son and heir of Ralph Vivian and Isabella Anthony (Anthorne) daughter of John Anthony (Anthorne). John married Honor Ferrers, daughter and heir of Richard Ferrers of Trelawarren. [1] (References from this souce to be verified: Ralph and Thomas Vyvyan were indicted for killing John Trebner at Mousehole. Inq. II Rich. II., No. 83. Lands named as held by Vyvyan: Newton, Trevudryn, Melynnewyth, Trethyn, Sendelowe, Trevorungowe, and Tresawell. Ralph Vyvyan held Tresawell in right of his wife Johanna, wid. of Robert Tresawell. Johanna (this likely refers to Johanna Trenowth who married Adam Vyvian, son of Ralph) wid. of Adam Vyvain held Neweton ped. fin. 37 Hen VI No. 2. John Vyvyan held Tresawell 15 Eliz., Easter, in notes to Vyvian of St. Colimb ped. ante.) In the The visitation of the county of Cornwall, in the year 1620, there is mentioned a Petition to Parliament with the following event decribed in the 8th footnote of page 258:

Pet. to Parl. 12 and 13, Edw. IV., John Vivian of Trelowarren, gent., sets forth that on 2 Aug.12 Edw. IV., Tregours (?Tregoney), when on his way to the Chapel of St James, on pilgrimage, John Gerves, John Mayowe Jr., late of Fowey, Rob Toker, and o'rs servents unto Thos. Trethewe, Esq., Coroner of Cornw., "arrayed in manner or werre, etc.," lay in wait to murder him and his, and wounded him, Anore, his wife, and Richard V. his son, and murdered "oon John Morthure, gent., nevewe and servaunte" to the said John Vivian. Rot. Parl., vol. vi., p. 54.

"The visitations of Cornwall: comprising the Heralds' visitations of 1530, 1573, & 1620" created by Vivian, J. L. (John Lambrick) 1830-1896 and the College of Arms (Great Britain), contains reproductions of the Herald's visits to Cornwall in addition to church and family records. A pedigree for the Vyvyans of Trevidren can be found on pages 527, 528, and 533.[2] The surname Vyvyan appears in Burke's Peerage.

This gives John's marriage to Honor Ferrars in 1427 at Trelowarren, and his death year as 1450. Honor was born c 1498 at Trelowarren and died 1434.
