Roger Vivian was born in Camborne, Cornwall, England.
Roger Vivian was baptized on 2 Jun 1594 at Mawgan in Meneage, Cornwall, England, the son of Haniball Vivian and Phillip Tremayne.[1] On 26 Oct 1623 at Camborne, Cornwall, he married Ellen Bennett, the daughter of William Bennett and Ann Archer.[2] From The Visitations of Cornwall[3]:
Roger Vivian of Camborne, 6 son of Haniball Vivian of Trelowarren, bap. 1594 at Mawgan in Meneage, named in the wills of his father and brother Sir Francis, a merchant and one of the King’s Tin Farmers for Cornwall, committed to Crosby Hall and Colchester Prisons for refusing to pay over the King’s money to Parliament, through which he became reduced in his estate, was employed abroad by the Levant Company, and d. at Aleppo in Syria; he is alluded to in the will of his sister in law Frances Vivian. Admon. Granted 22 Ap. 1653 to his brother Haniball, and “de bonis non” 22 ap. 1657 to his nephew Sir Richard Vivian, Kt. on behalf of the family, Act Book, P.C.C.
==Ellen, da of William Bennett, mar. 25 Oct. 1623 at Camborne

Letter from College of Arms to John DeLucy
5 May 2018:
Dear John,
Thank you for your last e-mail. I am sorry for the delay in writing back to you.
We have now had an opportunity to examine the pedigree records of the College of Arms and can report as follows:
A pedigree recorded here in 1894 includes Hannibal and Philippa Vyvian, and lists, alongside ‘other issue’, John Vyvian and his wife Ellen Vyvian (née Bennett) as their son and daughter (Coll. Arms Norfolk 16/112). This pedigree is cross-referenced to an earlier one recorded at the Heralds’ Visitation of Devon and Cornwall in 1620 (Coll. Arms C1/336b). The information recorded about each individual is the same as that on the pedigree you sent; the sole difference is, of course, the first name of Hannibal Vyvian’s son. However, a manuscript addition in pencil has been made, with the annotator circling ‘John’ and writing instead ‘Roger’, and noting a reference to another pedigree, recorded sometime in the 1950s, which is headed by Roger Vivian and Ellen Bennett (Coll. Arms Norfolk 40/87). There is also external evidence which supports this connection, as the will of Hannibal Vivian names a Roger as one of the sons of Hannibal Vivian (Public Record Office Prob. 11/116).

Concerning the possibility that Roger Vivian, who married Ellen Bennett, is the son of a John Vivian rather than Hannibal Vivian, I consulted years ago (before her death) with the legendary Cornish genealogist Susan Old, who was also an Online Parish Clerk, and we concluded that, although the Visitations of Cornwall are sometimes wrong, in this case they were correct in Roger Vivian being the husband of Ellen Bennett and the son of Hannibal Vivian. Then, the issue of Roger possibly being the son of a John Vivian came up several years ago and my cousin John DeLucy, another Vivian descendant in the UK, contacted the College of Arms, and they concluded that Roger was indeed the son of Hannibal.
Below are some notes from another researcher, Colin Paul. There is definitely some room for discussion on these two Roger Vivian's.
Roger Vivian who married Ellen Bennett was a yeoman of Camborne, they had 8 children all baptised in Camborne.
The records below convinced me that Roger Vivian, the husband of Ellen Bennett was the son of John and Elinor Vivian of Camborne and not Haniball Vyvyan of Trelowarren.

His brother Henry Vivian also signed at the same time.
The other convincing point is Haniball Vyvyan of Trelowarren never had a son named Henry.
