Biography

Cecily de Vivonne, born about 1257, (age 2 in 1259), was the 4th daughter and co-heiress of Sir William de Forz (or de Vivonne), by Maud de Ferrers (aka Maud de Kyme).[1][2]

Through her mother she had holdings in the county of Kildare and petitioned the king to make an allowance for her for the lands and rent in 1307.[2] In 1318 she petitioned the king for compensation for her lands in Kildare after she was ousted when the king granted the entire county to Thomas Fitz John.[2]

In 1318 she was granted a weekly market and yearly fair at her manor of Shepton Mallet, Somerset.[1][2]

Marriage and Known Issue

Cecily married John de Beauchamp, Knt., second son of Robert de Beauchamp and Alice de Mohun.[1] The date and place of their marriage is unknown and is estimated.
Cecily and John had two sons:
  • John, Knt., 1st Lord Beauchamp of Somerset, born 25 July 1274, died 1 January 1336/7, married Joan [?Chenduit] and had issue[1]
  • Robert, King's valet, died before 10 June 1304[1]
And two daughters:
  • Eleanor, died after about 1346, married Sir Fulk Fitz Warin and had issue[1]
  • Beatrice, died 28 August 1347, married first to Peter Corbet, 2nd Lord Corbet and second to Sir John de Leybourne (or Leyburne)[1]

Death

Cecily died at Stoke-under-Hamden, (also known as Stoke-Under-Hamdon) [3] Somerset, England on 10 January 1320/1.[1][2] Her husband, John, was buried there 31 October 1283.[1]
It is believed that Cecily was buried in the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin in Stoke sub Hamdon with her husband.
