An article about Maria's passing reads: "Died - At her home in Cushing, Neb., on Wednesday evening, September 2nd, 1891, Mrs. Maria E. Glass aged 44 years and 9 months.
Deceased was born in Germany and came to America with her parents in 1857, she then being ten years of age. She came to Nebraska with her husband and children 16 years ago from Pittsburg, Pa, at which place her parents now reside.
She had endured all the hardships of a western life. Her last illness was typhoid fever which lasted five weeks. She was a patient sufferer, a kind neighbor and a faithful friend. Her death has cast a gloom over the entire neighborhood. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn their loss." [1]
Maria's obituary reads: "Mrs. John Glass died at her home in Cushing last Thursday and was buried in the cemetery in this city on Friday. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her loss.
The deceased was 43 years of age and at the time of her death her husband was in Pennsylvania where he had been for several months past settling an estate, arriving home early last Monday morning." [2]
Maria is buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Saint Paul, Howard County, Nebraska, United States. [3]
