Augustus Vogt is Notable.
Augustus Stephen Vogt was an Ontario-born organist, choral conductor, music educator, composer and author. He founded the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir in 1894.[1]

Born in 1861, he was the son of John Vogt and Marianna Zingg. He grew up in Elmira, Ontario, where his father ran a hotel and built organs. At 19, Augustus taught music in the village.[2]

He married Georgia A. McGill in 1891.[3] They had a daughter and a son.

He died in 1926 in Toronto[4] and was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
