After his marriage in Germany in 1870 they emigrated to Australia around 1871.
Their first child being born in Queensland, Australia in 1872.
They had 9 children , 4 died as infants.
After his wife's death, Otto came to New Zealand with 5 of his children , arriving in the 1890s.
He worked in the Roxborough, Otago area for a number of years
