Biography
Johann Carl Voigt was born in Queensland on 10 July 1880. [1]
He came to NZ with his father at the age of 12.. He trained as a farrier. Took part in the Boer war. He moved with his family to Pleasant point South Canterbury where he had a blacksmith business. Later in his life he was known as John Charles Voigt or Voight.
He passed away in 1964 at the age of 84 and is buried at Geraldine, NZ[2]
