Biography

Although he was christened as Johann Adam, he was generally known by his middle name "Adam" through the years. Census Records list him as Adam.
Adam came to North Carolina with his father in 1767, and in 1778 he bought land on the Little Yadkin River in Stokes County, North Carolina adjoining property of Leonard Moser.
Adam became the ancestor of what is generally recognized as the Stokes County branch of this family. The 1790 Census Records of Stokes County, North Carolina show that by that time, he and his wife had seven sons under 16 years of age. The Moravian birth records show five of them and marriage and census records show two more. There were two daughters born shortly after 1790.
Deeds found in the Forsyth County Library show in 1826, Johann Adam Fulk sold 140 acres to Adam Fulk, 72 acres to Frederick Fulk, 60 acres to John Fulk, and 70 acres to Peter Fulk. Frederick's land joined Adam Fulk.

Narrative

Records 3:1392, list of entries made on the Moravian Land 1778, Adam Volk enters Two hundred Acres of Land in Surry County on both Sides of Grassy Creek, adjoining of Leonhd Moser, Peter Feiser, including the above Place for Compliment. Sep. 28, 1778.
5:2202. May 29, [1787] Bethania. Last evening I was requested to come to the home of a friend, Johann Adam Volck, and hold the funeral of his four-year-old daughter who fell asleep yesterday[1]. This morning I rode thither with Volck, Sr., and his two sons; the place was ten miles away and we reached there toward noon. More friends and neighbors had gathered than I expected. The service was held in a new house, with only a roof, but with plenty of boards for benches. After the burial, and after eating a little, we went home.
8:3888. Feb. 28, 1829. In the forenoon a certain Jacob Moser came with the news that old Adam Volk, formerly a member of the country congregation, had died yesterday. Request was made that I conduct the funeral service Sunday. He lived about 11 miles from here near the Sauratown Mountains. On account of other duties I could not comply with the request and referred him to Pastor Schober in Salem, their own preacher.
March 1. Since Pastor Schober could not serve, I was asked to hold the funeral of old Adam Volk. Promised to visit Sr. Elisabeth Butner in Bethabara on the way.
March 2. She seemed to be better. At 8:00 o'clock I left for the funeral, which was largely attended. The deceased had formerly belonged to the country congregation, and had lived in Allemängel (where he was born), Schoeneck, Tulpehocken, near Bethania on old Isaac Pfaff's plantation, and last at his home 11 miles from Bethania, where he joined the Lutheran Church under Pastor Schober's care. He died calmly, at peace with his God.

It is bothering me that we have two Johann/Johannes Adam Fulk/Volcks -- this one and Johannes Adam Volck.

They were born 5 years apart. This Johann Adam died in 1829; the other "after 1820."

Could it be that one is connected to the wrong parents????

Fulk-307 and Volck-170 appear to represent the same person because: I have the same person. I just used the English spelling of the last name. Thanks.

I have documentation for only one of the wives listed here -- Maria Sara Moser.

I would like to merge this individual with Fulk-11, but I think we need to resolve the marriages first.

Do you have source information for the marriage to Anna Maria Giron?

I think the marriage to Elizabeth Mauser is just incorrect because it shows their marriage date the same his marriage to Maria S. Moser.
