Biography

Jakob was born in 1755, Interlaken, Bern, Switzerland, bapt. April 6.[1]
He was the son of the school teacher, Hans von Allmen & Christina Sterchi, who was from Matten.[2]

1794, Feb 17, he married 1st? to Magdalena Porter (b abt 1747) from Goldswil. He was 39; she was 47. It's likely that they had both been married before, but there is no Jacob/Jakob married in Unterseen between 1770 & 1794. [3] They didn't have any children together. She died Aug 30, 1801, age 51.

1802, July 1, he married Anna Brunner from Habkern.[4] Jakob was listed as a widower. Anna was born in 1772, so she was 30 yrs old; he was 47.

1803, daug Magdalana was born.[5] She m 1825 to Heinrich Fischhof;[6] ch: Christian-1826, Heinrich-1828

1804, daug. Anna born.[7] She m 1829 to Johannes Wyler;[8] ch: Anna-b/d1829, Anna-1830, Elisabeth-1833, Margaritha-1835, Johannes-1837, Johann Jakob-1839, Friedrich-1842, Christian-1845, Margarita-1848

1807, Margarita was born.[9] She m Jakob von Allmen, moved to US in 1850; d aft 1870 Illinois, USA; ch: Margarita-1833, Jacob-1834, Elisabeth-1838, Johannes (John)-1840, Susanna-1843, Maria Ann (Mary)-1846

1809, son Jakob was born.[10] He m 1847 to Elisabeth Gysi

1812, son Johannes was born.[11] He d the next year, age 1 1/2.[12]

1815, daug. Elisabeth was born[13] when Jakob was 60 yrs. old.

1825, Oct 22, Jakob died, age 70 in Unterseen[14] (buried Oct 25).
1846, Nov 23, Anna died, age 74[15]

In 1850 their daughter, Margarita moved with her family to America.
