Friedrich, Elector of Brandenburg (III.), Duke of Prussia and since January 18, 1701 King in Prussia (I.), was born on July 11, 1657. He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg and Luise Henriette von Oranien. He died on February 15, 1713.

On August 13, 1679, Friedrich married Elisabeth Henriette von Hessen-Kassel, daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm VI. von Hessen-Kassel and Hedwig Sophie von Brandenburg. They had one child:
On October 8, 1684, Friedrich married Sophie Charlotte von Hannover, daughter of Ernst August von Braunschweig-Calenberg, Prince-Elector of Hanover, and Sophie von der Pfalz. They had 14 children, among them were:[1]
On November 28, 1708, Friedrich married Sophie Luise von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, daughter of Friedrich zu Mecklenburg and Christine Wilhelmine von Hessen-Homburg. They had no children.
