Biography

Prince Karl August Fürst von Hardenberg was a Prussian statesman and Prime Minister of Prussia. His mother Anna Sophia was from the Von Bulow family, while his father became in 1776 commander-in-chief of the Hanoverian army. While during his late career he acquiesced to reactionary policies, earlier in his career he implemented a variety of Liberal reforms. He married into the noble Reventlow family,
