Siegmund was born in 1872 in Graz, Styria. He was an Austrian composer and conductor. In 1902, in other sources in 1903,[1] he married Hertha Ritter in München. In 1920 he became chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic. Being a staunch German nationalist he first went along with the Nazi cultural politics but refused to join the NSDAP. This led to increasing attacks and threats resulting in his resignation from all official positions in 1938. He died in 1948 in München.[2]
