Biography
Christening: 3 Nov 1850. Dutch Reformed Church, Colesberg. Witnesses: Jan Adriaan du Plessis, Gerbrech Elisabeth van der Walt, Anna Martha du Plessis.
Marriage: 22 Apr 1872. Dutch Reformed Church, Colesberg. Marriage register: Groom 21 years, stock farmer of Ketelfontein. Bride 17 years, from Taijboschfontein, parents' consent. Witnesses: CJJ van der Walt and WJL Booysen.
Death: 14 Jun 1929. The death notice was signed on 8 Aug 1929 by his daughter Maria Aletta Venter, present at death. She made an error by giving her parents' names as parents of her own father whose death notice she signed. He was 78 years 8 months, widower, retired farmer. He left 8 children: Susanna Maria (Steyn), Margaretha Johanna (vd Walt), Wilhelmina Christina (Snyman), Maria Aletta (Venter), Johannes Christiaan, Gerbrecht Elizabeth (du Plessis), Susanna Lodewika Johanna (du Plessis), Hester Sophia Vorster.
