Biography

Ellen was the only child of the Presbyterian minister Alexander Waddell and his wife Janet.
In January 1890, she married the widower TR Jackson, a local Kent County farmer and banker. Jackson died of a ruptured aorta just eight months later. By the spring of the following year (1891), Ellen was living in Harwich Township with her widower father. They had a boarder - a farm labourer by the name of William HH Snow. Ellen and William married in May of 1892 and in September, Adeline, their first child was born. Although they had been married for some months at that point, the registrar for the birth listed Ellen as "Ellen Waddell, widow of TR Jackson".
Ellen died in October 1907. Cause of death was listed as splenic leukemia. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, Ontario.
