LISMORE. The Right Rev. Mgr. M'Guire, V.G. last week married, with Nuptial Mass, Joseph Wade to Elizabeth Mary Pollard, both of Lismore. The marriage was a very popular one, the cathedral being well filled with relatives and friends of both parties. The reception was after wards held at the Court House Hotel, at which Mgr. M'Guire presided. Mr. and Mrs. Wade intend living in Lismore, where the former has a very fine selection.

Mr. Joseph E. Wade, a well known and popular identity of Lismore, died yesterday. One of a large family, he was born at Euroley, near Narrandera, 62 years ago, where he lived and worked in the wheat areas until entering the A.I.F. in the 1914-18 war. He was on active service overseas for three and a half years and remained in the forces there for some time after the war ended. On his return to Australia he chose to settle on the land in the North Coast district at Lismore. He married Elizabeth Pollard and had lived on his property in the Wyrallah Road area with his family until he died. He had been an active member of the R.S.L. and the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife and six children, Mary (Mrs. Des. Hyde), John, Patricia, Charlie, Adrian and Joseph, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William Wade, of Narrandera, Colin Wade, and sisters Ann, of Leeton, and Mrs. Mary Vincent, of Perth.

Returned soldiers of World War 1, led by Dr. R. E. Longworth, president of Lismore Sub-branch of the R.S.S. & A.I.L.A., made up half of the large congregation present St. Carthage's Cathedral yesterday afternoon prior to the funeral of the late Joseph Ernest Wade. The Marist Brothers' Football Club, in which his sons, Charles and Adrian play, was represented by their president, Mr. J. B. Clarke, and many of the first j grade team. Mr. T. Kelly, president, represented the Richmond River Rugby League Football Association. These, together with friends from all parts of the district and representatives of many of the business houses of the city, filled the pews of Our Lady's Chapel to capacity. Right Rev. Monsignor C. Maguire, Adm. assisted by Rev. Father D. F. McGrath, 'PP. South Lismore, conducted the service at the church and read the prayers at the graveside. As the cortege left the Cathedral, pupils of the Marist Brothers' school and students of St. Mary's College formed a guard of honor and recited the Rosary. At the graveside. Mr. T. Cooling, Returned Soldiers' League, recited the Recessional, and Mr Monty South sounded the Last Post. Pall-bearers at the church were John, Charles, Adrian and Joseph Wade (sons), Frank and Charles Pollard (brothers-in-law), and at the graveside, D. Hyde (son-in-law), E. Pollard (brother-in-law), C. Daley (nephew), J Ellis, R. Matts and R. Maroney (Returned Soldiers' League). Wreaths were carried by John Daley, senr., Hillary Pollard (brothers-in-law), Jim Pollard (nephew), Frank Daley, J. B. Clarke and returned soldiers J. Hicks. L. Brown, O. Smith and B O'Keefe. Cochran Bros, were in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Members of R.S.S. & A.I.L.A., Lismore sub-branch, are requested to attend the Funeral of their late comrade, JOSEPH ERNEST WADE which will leave St. Carthage's Cathedral THIS AFTERNOON, after a service commencing at 2.30 p.m., for burial in the Catholic portion of the Lismore cemetery.
