He left a will dated 22 Apr. 1776; described himself as advanced in years; made bequests to eldest son James Wadsworth (the sword which belonged to my father James Wadsworth); grandson James Wadsworth; dauther Ruth Atwater; youngest son John Noyes Wadsworth and his three son John Noyes Wadsworth Jr., William Wadsworth, James Wadsworth. The will was probated 13 Sept 1777 and the inventory taken 6 July 1778[3]
In the Old Durham Cemetery, Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USA, is a family monument. This states "James Wadsworth (Jr.) of Durham married Abigail Penfield of Guilford they had three Children James, John Noyes & Ruth. He died July 25, 1779, aged 87 She on the 14 of Feb 1748, aged 46:"[4]
