Biography

George was born on the 13th February 1854 based on the 1939 National Register, in Merton, Surrey.^[1]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 George a potman, was living at the 'George and Dragon', Frances Street, Battersea, Surrey.^[2]

George son of William Wagland, married Sophia Ewing (~1847 - ) on the 3rd September 1873 in Croydon, Surrey.^[3]

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 George a block silk printer, was living at 1 Browns Cottages, Church Street, Wandsworth, Surrey with his wife Sophie and Sophia's daughter Lizzie, and their children George, Frederick, Eleanor and Henry.^[4]

1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 George, a block printer, was living at 60 Summers Town, Wandsworth, Surrey with his wife Sophia and Sophia's daughter Lizzie, and their children George, Frederick, Eleanor, Henry, William, Albert and Edith.^[5]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 George a silk printer, was living at 34 Baldwins Road, Dartford, Kent with his wife Sophia and their children Edith and Henry. Henry's wife Alice and their son Henry were also living there.^[6]

In the 1911 census George (age 52), Silk printer, was the married head of household at 31 Little Queen Street, Dartford, Kent, England. Please note that George has added 'William' as his second name.^[7]

On the 23rd July 1914 George was shown on his son Albert's marriage certificate as a silk printer.^[8]

In the 1921 census George (age 67), Silk Printer, was the widowed father of Henry Charles Wagland at 55 Bullace Lane, Dartford, Kent, England.^[9]

In the 1939 National Register George (age 85), Silk Printer (Retired), was recorded as widowed on The Mount Barn End Lane, Dartford, Kent, England.^[10]

George's death (age 89) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1941 in the Dartford district, Kent.^[11]
