When George Waggoner was born on September 22, 1805, in Rowan, North Carolina, his father, Jacob, was 22 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 18. He married Jane A. Gattis on December 7, 1823, in Franklin, Tennessee. They had 11 children in 22 years. He died on September 6, 1861, in Lincoln, Tennessee, at the age of 55, and was buried in Mulberry, Tennessee.
