Carl Heinrich Friedrich Wahlert was born on August 19, 1826, in The Kingdom of Hanover 1814-1866 [1], now known as Clausthal, Lower Saxony, Germany. His father, Carl, was 26 and his mother, Louisa, was 36. He married Friedericke Christianne Caroline Dix in 1850 in Germany. They had seven children in 13 years. He died on March 30, 1905, in Burra, South Australia, Australia, having lived a long life of 78 years, and was buried there.
