Per Wahlöö was born on August 5, 1926 in Tölö to Karin Helena Svensson.[1]
His mother married editor at Sydsvenska Dagbladet, Per Waldemar Persson Walöö, on February 23, 1928. They lived in Lund, and Per joined them from Tölö in 1929. His father had still been married to his first wife Astrid Lundberg when Per was born, but divorced and remarried his mother.[2]
He was a Swedish author and an ex-crime reporter, who'd been deported from Spain by Franco. Best known for his crime stories which he co-wrote with Maj Sjöwall, with the famous character Martin Beck.
He met Maj Sjöwall in the summer of 1962, and had a 13 year long relationship with her up until his death in 1975. The couple never married as Per was already married when they met.
He died on June 22, 1975 in Malmö Sankt Pauli.
