Biography

J. J. Waid, aged 73 years, died at his home near Mimosa Friday night, December 1, at 8:30 o'clock, after a lingering illness. He was the son of the late John C. and Margaret Creson Waid, and was born and reared in the same community in which he died. He was a successful farmer and an upright man. For years, he was a member of the Church of Christ and lived his christianity every day. Funeral services were held from the Fayetteville Church of Christ Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by D. D. Woody and R. A. Largen, with burial at Riverview cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Kate Mills, and three sons, Holman and Brents Waid, of this community, and George Waid of Howell; and four grandchildren. He was the last member of a large and prominent family of that vacinity.
