Biography

Henry Wainwright was born in 1839 in Swannington, Leicestershire, England. He was the son of Thomas Wainwright and Mary Nicklinson. ^[1][2]

In 1841 he was living with his parents and siblings in Whitwick parish. ^[3]

By 1851, the whole Wainwright family including Henry had moved to Watt's Causeway, St Marys, Leicester. ^[4] They were still there in 1861. ^[5]

Henry Wainwright (a batchelor age 25, a hosier) of Curzon Street, Leicester, the son of Thomas Wainwright (a joiner) was married to Mary Ann Collis (a spinster age 23), the daughter of James Watts Hollis (a framework knitter) on 8th June 1865 at St Margaret, Leicester. ^[6]

In 1871, Henry (31, a hosiery warehouseman) and his wife, Mary A (29) were living in Hinckley, Leicestershire, England with three children, Harriett E Wainwright (5, born Leicester), Sarah A Wainwright (2, born Hinckley) and John T Wainwright (0, also born Hinckley). ^[7]

In 1881, Henry (41, a hosiery warehouseman), Mary A (39) and seven children were living in Crocus Street, Nottingham. ^[8]

By 1891, Henry (51, a hosier's assistant), Mary A (49) and their children plus one grandchild were living in Bath Street, Nottingham. ^[9]

In 1901, Henry (61, a hosier's assistant), Mary A (59) and five adult children were living at 2 Victoria Villas, Nottingham. ^[10]

In 1911, Henry (71, a hosier's assistant), Mary A (69) and four adult children were living at Sneinton Hermitage, Nottingham. ^[11]

Henry Wainwright died age 83 in 1923, in Nottingham. ^[12]
