Biography

Robert Henry Wait was the son of William Wade Wait and Sarah Lucy (Pierson) Wait. He was born in Urington, Gloucestershire, England on 10 November 1848^[1].

1862, 12 year old, school boy, Robert Wait was living in Suffolk Parade, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England with his parents, William (age 50, Clergyman) and Sarah (43) and siblings, William (15), John (13), Lewis (10), Walter (9), Lucy (7), Christopher (6) and infant, Norman^[2]. Also living on the property were servants, Hannah Monteith (age 31) and Selina Mc Kenzie (21) and 2 visitors, Joseph Malpus (28) and Charles Malpus (17).

Like several of his brothers, he travelled before settling in Nelson, New Zealand where he had a property named "Thackwood".

Alice Louisa Sealy and Robert Henry Wait were married on 13 June 1883 in Bishopdale, Nelson, New Zealand^[3].

They ultimately left New Zealand for Australia where he purchased the property, "Tellicura" at Dellicknora, Victoria. He later sold this property and settled in Victoria, away from farming life.

He passed away on 27 March 1935 in Alphington, Victoria, Australia^[4] and was buried at the Box Hill Cemetery^[5].
