Biography

Herbert Kitchener Stanley Wake was born on 22nd June 1902 at Manganui, New Zealand. He was the older son of Charles Wake and Ella Rosieur.[1]

Served in the Second Australian Imperial Force 1941-1945
2/15th Australian Field Regiment
On 21st May 1941, Stan enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force for service overseas during the Second World War.[2] He was allocated to the 2/15th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, and embarked for Malaya on 29th July on board the troop ship Katoomba. The convoy, carrying 27th Brigade, 8th Division, arrived in Singapore on 15th August and participated in the battle against the Japanese Empire that resulted in the surrender of Singapore the following February.[3]

Stan Wake was a prisoner of war of the Japanese during World War II.

He became a prisoner of war. Stan was discharged from military duties on 14th November 1945, upon his repatriation to Australia.

Stan married Kathleen Hampson in 1949 at Sydney, New South Wales.[4]

He passed away in 1960 at New South Wales.[5]
