Robert Wakefield was born on August 2, 1866 in Canada West, the son of Hannah Jane Thomson 1833-1905 and John Wakefield 1828-1909. He may have been born in Markham Township, the township to the north of Scarborough, as that is where his parents lived on a farm. Or he may have been born in Scarborough Township where is parents moved sometime prior to 1871. He died on June 10, 1887 and is buried in the cemetery of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Bendale, Scarborough.
