Some sources have claimed a connection between two English Waldron families:
This may result from confusion between the former's grandson William Waldron and the latter's son William Waldron. Each William had sons who migrated to North America and rose to prominence there around the same time, in particular the former's son Major Richard Waldron (1615-1689) and the latter's son Resolved Waldron (c1620-c1690). Alcester and Goodworth Clatford are 113 miles apart,[9] so there is no reason to suspect a close relationship between the two families. Douglas Richardson's 1995 article, "The European Origin and Ancestry of Joseph and Resolved Waldron" (New York Genealogical & Biographical Record, Jan. 1995, pp. 12-24, and Apr. 1995, pp. 113-116) appears to have resolved the debate about Resolved Waldron's ancestral origins in favour of Goodworth Clatford. Y-DNA comparisons might establish whether the two dynasties have a distant common Waldron ancestor.
