Biography

Joseph R. Waldrop was born in 1825, in South Carolina, a son of John Waldrop and his second wife, Susan. [1]

Joseph married Isabella M. Boyd, a daughter of Samuel McClurkin Boyd and Nancy Henry. Joseph and Isabella are found on the United States Census of 1850, living in Laurens county, South Carolina, in the household of her parents. [2]

Joseph and Isabella moved to Billstown, Pike county, Arkansas, where Isabella died March 27, 1896, at the age of 68 years and is buried in the Thomasson Family Cemetery Plot, on private land about 3 miles west of Delight, Arkansas and 1 mile from the Billstown community. Joseph died October 14, 1889, and is buried with his wife and their daughter, Jane Caroline Waldrop, wife of James Stewart Thomasson. [3]
