A very pretty wedding took place at Blind River on May 5th, the contracting parties being Mr Cyril C. Walker, eldest son of Mr D. Walker, of Seddon, and Miss Louise Fissendon, fourth daughter of Mr P. Fissenden, of Blind River. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Phil Fissenden, was charmingly attired in a beautiful silk dress trimmed with silk lace and insertion, the train being trimmed with pearls and lace. She also wore a bridal veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful bouquet, of lilies, white chrysanthemums, and maidenhair fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses Fissenden and Walker, and two little flower girls, Misses Cora Fissenden and Eylene Catley, both being nieces of the bride. The elder maids were robed in cream dresses trimmed with satin and lace, and wore black hats with red roses. The little maids were dressed in white embroidered muslin, and silver and gold caps completed their toilets. They all carried pretty bouquets of Michaelmas daisies and chrysanthemums. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Fred Fissenden as best man, and by Mr Alfred Marfell as groomsman. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a pair of silver-backed brushes; the bridegroom's to the bride a handsome gold chain and pendant set with rubies, to the elder maids gold Mizpah brooches, and to the wee mites little bar brooches. After the ceremony about 50 guests partook of afternoon tea. The newly married couple left by motor-car en route to Picton and the North Island, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride's travelling costume was of navy blue, with cream lace blouse, and black beaver hat trimmed with red berries.[1]
