Prof. Scanlon came directly from Columbus, Ohio, where he had attending the recent Prohibition convention at which gathering he was made permanent chairman of the convention, and, it is understood he refused nomination for first place on the ticket, not willing to give up he position he now holds in the Presbyterian Church as chairman of the temperance movement.
