Phoebe (Walker) Shields was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.
Phoebe Walker, daughter of Tyrey Walker and Elizabeth Caylor, was born in Blount County, Tennessee on 1 March 1855.[1]
In 1870 she was fifteen when she was counted on the census with her parents and five younger siblings in District 15, Blount, Tennessee.[2]
By 1880 she was married to Frederick David Daniel Shields, and was counted with him on the census as a 25-year-old, with an infant daughter under a year old, living in Blount County, Tennessee.[3]
Known children of the marriage:
Mary Catherine Elizabeth "Katie" Shields (1879-1945)[3][1][4]
All eight of their children were born by 1900, and they were all counted on the census together that year.[5]
In 1907 she died in Blount, Tennessee and was buried at Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cades Cove, Blount County, Tennessee.[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Phoebe by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Phoebe:
I added some sources to this profile and the Walker Name Study category/template. Original GEDCOM information was summarized under Research Notes. Normally I add a small biography but thought more research should be completed first. I try to blend my work with the work of others without deleting any essential/interesting information.
I am trying to sort out the sources for the two people named, Phebe J Walker, who were born Tennessee within a few years of each other. I would like to have access to her spouse's profile which is set as private. Given the age of his wife, he probably was born more than 150 years ago (before 1867). If so, and you are PM of his profile, please set his privacy level to private. If you are not PM, let me know.
Thank you, Pat Credit Coordinator of Walker Name Study.
