I have been working on my family genealogy for 30 years. I was inspired by my great aunt who had compiled family history on my Mom's lineage. Thanks to the advent of the internet, my paternal line was pieced together. + A FInd-a-Grave volunteer with over 58,000 entries. My Mom and I walked cemeteries together many times to find our ancestors. Many headstones were hard to read and that motivated me to try to preserve the information that will be lost with time and erosion. + A life time member of Painted Hills Genealogy Society. One of their missions is to document all the cemeteries in several counties of western NY and PA. Member of New England Historic Genealogical Society

Hi Sue,

Thank you for the edits to Eliakim Hamilton(1757-1845). Sorry my Wiki data is pretty sparce and at times not perfect, as I have not worked at it that hard. I think I typed in several people from memory, thus the couple errors you corrected. I really don't have time to keep up with multiple family trees and am hoping my daughter takes over some of my Wikitree entries.

Where did you get the place of marriage between Eliakim and Zilpah? I have this in my Ancestry tree:

Zilpah Brooks & Eliakim Hamilton Marriage Date 6 Nov 1777

New Marrlorough, Berkshire County

Source Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT, Film # 0250275.

HI Sue,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Sue,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Cathryn, a volunteer greeter
